Die Freiheitsstatue in New York feiert ihren 130. Jahrestag
(dg) Am 28. Oktober 1886 wurde "Statue of Liberty" eingeweiht und ist ein Geschenk des französischen Volkes an die Vereinigten Staaten. Die Statue ist seit 1984 als Weltkulturerbe der UNESCO klassifiziert. Gestern beschrieb sie ihr 135. Jubiläum, was mich motiviert, diesen Post zu schreiben.
Im Juli 2007 haben wir mit ABORA III vor der Freiheitsstatue unsere ersten Segeltests begonnen, um Schiff und Mannschaft auf die Atlantiküberquerung vorzubereiten. Unsere Tests starteten immer vor ihrem Antlitz, was uns an ihre Funktion erinnerte: "Ein Meisterwerk des menschlichen Geistes […, das] ein dauerhaftes starkes Symbol für Ideale wie Freiheit, Frieden, Menschenrechte, Abschaffung der Sklaverei, Demokratie und Chancen ist und zum Nachdenken, zu Debatten und zum Protest anregt."
Aus diesem Grund erinnert das ABORA-Team an diese denkwürdige Einweihung vor 135 Jahren und wir gratulieren den Amerikanern für dieses einmalige UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe.

Die Freiheitsstatue ist seit 1886 vor allem für Ausländer und Immigranten ein Symbol für Freiheit, Frieden und Menschenrechte, was wir mit unserer Fahrt über den Nordatlantik in die Welt tragen wollten. // The Statue of Liberty has been a symbol of freedom, peace and human rights, especially for foreigners and immigrants, since 1886, which we wanted to bring into the world with our trip across the North Atlantic. © Liberty_Island_photo_D_Ramey_Logan
Die Tests auf dem windigen Hudson-River haben uns sehr geholfen, das Team auf die Herausforderungen auf See vorzubereiten. Dass sich uns am Ende 13 Stürme und Turm hohe Wellen 2007 entgegenstellten, schmälern nicht die schönen Erinnerungen an die Zeit in New York. // The tests on the windy Hudson River helped us a lot in preparing the team for the challenges at sea. The fact that we faced 13 storms and tower high waves in 2007 does not diminish the wonderful memories of the time in New York.

The Statue of Liberty in New York is celebrating its 130th anniversary
The Statue of Liberty was inaugurated on October 28, 1886 and is a gift from the French people to the United States. The statue has been classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1984. Yesterday she described her 135th anniversary, which motivates me to write this post.
In July 2007 we started our first sailing tests with ABORA III in front of the Statue of Liberty to prepare the ship and crew for the Atlantic crossing. Our tests always started in front of their faces, which reminded us of their function: “A masterpiece of the human mind [... which] is a lasting strong symbol of ideals such as freedom, peace, human rights, abolition of slavery, democracy and opportunity and for reflection , stimulates debate and protest. "
For this reason, the ABORA team is remembering this memorable inauguration 135 years ago and we congratulate the Americans for this unique UNESCO World Heritage Site.
